Starting 30 March 2020, when the count was around 1,000 cases, the COVID-19 cases rose rapidly and by 19 May, more than one lakh Indians had contacted COVID-19. This number is increasing exponentially every day.
Since the outbreak of this disease, our doctors and medical workers have been working round the clock risking their own life to provide critical care.
We, at Nanhi Jaan, identified an urgent need to equip our Doctors, Nurses and medical practitioners with protective equipment like masks, gowns, sanitizers, etc. to prevent them getting exposed to this highly infectious and communicable virus.
In such times, a healthcare worker without protective equipment is like a soldier without an armour.
Thus, in mid-March, we launched a Fund-raiser with a target of minimum ₹50 lakh to provide protective kits to our Care-givers. It is very heartening to note that in a short span of time, hundreds of people from all walks of life joined us and we have already collected more than ₹40 lakhs.
By April 28, 2020, protection equipment worth almost ₹31 lakh was provided to PGIMER, Govt Medical College Hospital-32 and Govt Hospital-16. More is being arranged.
What has been achieved thus far is just the tip of an iceberg. The fight is long drawn and continuing support of all is required to defeat this pandemic.
With your support we can protect our doctors & health workers, and do our bit to overcome this massive challenge.
